
Dr Dave Hawkins, Professor Emeritus, of Michigan State University was presented with the Chevalier Award late last year. The Chevalier Award is Angus Australia's most prestigious award for non members is awarded to people who have made a significant contribution to the Angus breed and the Australian beef industry.
Dr Hawkins has been the Michigan State University scholarship coordinator in Michigan ever since the scholarships inception in 1983. Over the last twenty five years, Dr Hawkins has helped many young Australians with their stay at Michigan State University , and touched many of their lives.

Upon learning of Dr Hawkins retirement, Angus Youth recommended that the Chevalier Award be awarded for Dr Hawkins long service to the Michigan State University . The 2007 Semex Genetics Michigan State scholar, Alex Aylan Parker, presented the award to a surprised Dr Hawkins, in late 2007.
Angus Youth thanks Dr Hawkins for his outstanding contribution to encourage young people in the beef and we wish him all the best in his retirement.
