2007 Leadership Clinic

The 2007 Leadership Clinic held in Armidale, from the 8 th to 10 th February was attended by both the Landmark Ambassadors and the Angus Youth Management Committee. Thirteen participants attend from as far away as Western Australia and Tasmania , as well as the 2007 New Zealand Exchangee, Natalie Mapp.

The program included review and planning sessions on Angus Youth, as well public speaking exercises and Team building activities. The group also went out to Ben Nevis Angus stud, Walcha, and under the tutelage of Erica Halliday , practiced the public speaking component of junior judging.

This year for the first time, the group also went paintballing. This proved most exciting (and scary for some) with the balls flying thick and fast during the challenges. The end result was one challenge for each team. Most people ended up a little worst for wear, after the experience with everyone gaining a few bruises from the experience.

Another first for 2007 at the leadership clinic was that we had a representative of Hereford Youth, Ms Kim Weller, join us on Friday morning. We discussed our organisations and how to develop projects together in the future. This was an exciting opportunity to get together with another youth group and to realise that we are all in the Australian beef industry, not just our own respective breeds.
