In the second week of February, the Angus Australia boardroom was taken over by the incoming 2011 Angus Youth Management Committee for the annual Angus Youth Leadership Clinic. Members of the Management Committee were also joined by the 2011 Landmark Ambassadors for three days of workshops and activities aimed at building personal skills and teamwork.
The Leadership Clinic participants engaged in numerous sessions learning skills such meeting etiquette and procedures, resume writing and budgeting. The Clinic also took on an industry aspect, encompassing a tour to the Rangers Valley feedlot which was considered as the highlight to the weekend.

The Clinic participants asked lots of questions about the feedlot operation and took home a greater understanding of the day-to-day running of the operation and were also made aware of the career opportunities in the feedlot sector. A BBQ and meet and greet session was held with the Angus Australia staff during which the New Zealand exchangee, Hazel Timperley gave a presentation on her trip around Australia. The weekend also involved team building activities including a paintball ses-sion which was enthusiastically enjoyed by all. The Committee and Ambassadors spent time within the busy schedule to work on the program for Angus Youth for the upcoming year and are planning to bring more events and opportunities to Angus Youth members across Australia. This also involved reviewing the proposals received to host the 2012 Angus Youth National Roundup. The successful proposal was awarded to Hamilton, Victoria so save the date for the 2012 Angus Youth National Roundup at the Hamilton Showground on the 12th-15th January 2012.
The Management Committee and Landmark Ambassadors would like to show their appreciation and thank Angus Australia and their staff, with special mention to the Extension and Youth Coordinator Jo Milward, for hosting and organising such a successful weekend. All participants developed new skills which will help them in their future careers and created strong networks to work together over the coming year.
The Management Committee is a group of Angus Youth members which nominated and then were elected onto the committee in various roles and are responsible for helping to organise and conduct the Angus Youth program.
The 2011 Landmark Ambassadors were awarded at the 2011 Angus Youth National Roundup in Glen Innes in January and they also attended the Leadership Clinic weekend.
