2007 Angus Youth Leadership Clinic

The 2007 Leadership Clinic was held in Armidale, NSW, from February 8 to 10. Participating in the clinic were the 2007 Landmark Angus Youth Ambassadors, the Angus Youth Management Committee and the 2007 New Zealand Exchangee, Natalie Mapp. In all there were 13 participants, with some travelling from as far away as Western Australia and Tasmania.

The program for the clinic included review and planning sessions on Angus Youth, public speaking exercises, and team building activities. There was a trip to Ben Nevis Angus Stud, Walcha, where the leadership group practiced the public speaking component of junior judging under the tutelage of Erica Halliday.

This year for the first time the group also went paintballing. This proved most exciting (and scary for some) with the paintballs flying thick and fast during the challenges.

Another first for the 2007 leadership clinic was a representative of Hereford Youth, Ms Kim Weller, joining us for a morning. We discussed our two organisations and how to develop projects together in the future. This was an exciting opportunity to get together with another beef industry youth group and to realise that we are all part of the Australian beef industry, not just our own respective breeds.
