Alex off to Michigan

Alex Aylan-Parker, the winner of the 2007 Michigan State University Scholarship is congratulated by Jim Bruce representing Semex / Phoenix Genetics.

The winner of the 2007 Semex/Phoenix Genetics Michigan State University scholarship is Alex Aylan-Parker, Mansfield, Victoria. Alex currently works in her family’s artificial breeding and agistment business and is mainly responsible for the synchronisation programs for AI and embryo transfer programs.

The scholarship, of which Semex/Phoenix Genetics is the major sponsor, is also supported by the Australian Beef Industry Foundation and Angus Australia. It allows Ms. Aylan-Parker to study for a semester at Michigan State University, a leading agricultural university in the US and also provides her with a place on the Semex/Phoenix Genetics Beef Breeders Tour of the US.

As well as looking forward to studying meat and animal science at the university, Alex is also looking forward to being on the tour and the opportunity to see a lot of US genetics.

Alex has studied communications and has a Diploma of Accounting. She is looking forward to being more involved with Angus Youth when she returns from the US.

The Semex/Phoenix Genetics Michigan State University scholarship will again be offered in 2008. For more information about this exciting opportunity please contact Jim Klarner, Angus Youth Coordinator on 02 6773 4608 or 0429 917 556.
