The first part of 2008 has been a quiet one as far as South Australian Youth organised events. However our S.A Youth have still been involved in many of the excellent Youth programs that are put together by our Angus Youth Management committee and sub-committees alike.
It was fantastic to see 6 of our South Australian Angus Youth members attend and be involved in 2008s “Landfall Angus Youth National Round Up” which was held in Bendigo in early January. The Youth that attend were Bradley Jeffrey, Robyn (Thompson) Jeffery, Henri Deans, Kate, Melissa and Renee Nottle. Both Penny McArdle and Jason Schulz also attended to assist in the Round Ups activities. The Round Up was a great opportunity for our Youth to not only learn more about beef cattle, but also have the chance to meet Youth from other states that share similar passions with Beef Cattle and our exciting Beef industry. The positive feedback that was received from our S.A Youth that attended the Round Up indicates that programs like these are important for the growth and development of our Youth for the beef industry and I encourage any Angus Youth interested to attended next years Round Up which will be held in Australia's Capital, Canberra. I just want to congratulate this years Round Up committee on a very well organised and planned out event, just one of the many great events Angus Youth provides shaping and moulding our future beef industry leaders.
We also had two South Australian representatives compete in the 2008 National Judging Competition held in Tamworth in February. They were Michael Foster from Pinnaroo and Rachael Chirgwin from Kangaroo Island . Both these representatives were selected after doing well at our Beef Cattle Assessment School which is held annually at Keith in August.
I'd also like to add on behalf of South Australian Angus Youth I would like to congratulate two of our Angus Youth members Bradley Jeffrey and Robyn Thompson on their marriage which was held on Saturday 1 st of March. We wish them all the best for their future.
I hope everyone receives the good rains that they need as we approach winter and the growing season.
