In 2006 there are many opportunities for Victorian youth members to excel in their specialised fields. The program to develop a livestock judging competition once again at the 2006 Southern Beef School which is to be held in July at Glenormiston College in Southern Western Victoria.

The top two competitors are then able to compete in the National Judging Competition in 2007 which could lead to being the winner of the Illinois Scholarship.

A big thankyou goes out to all youth members and their families who contributed to the Landfall Round-up held in Hamilton. Victorian youth members would like to congratulate the successful Victorian 2006 Ambassadors Liesl Sargeant and Steph Bullen. We are sure they will represent Victoria and contribute lots and as a state we hope to bring the Round-up back down our way in years to come.

The National committee look forward working towards the new Work Program over the next 12 months to make it a successful and valuable program.

2005
Angus Youth looks set for a great year in Victoria. Following a very successful Victorian Angus Youth Judging Competition at the 2004 Southern Beef School, Victorian Angus Youth will conduct the same event this year and once again select the Victorian representatives for the National Judging Competition from the AY competitors at the 2005 Southern Beef School. Participants who place in the top two of the AY competitors at the Southern Beef School are eligible to compete in the Angus National Junior Judging Competition. The winner of the National Judging Competition is also the recipient of the University of Illinois Scholarship to the USA.

Congratulations to Penny McArdle, Melissa Neal and Elizabeth Weaver who all qualified and represented Victorian Angus Youth at the National Judging Competition in Wodonga in March. Penny, Melissa and Elizabeth competed very well in what was a highly contested National Judging Competition. Congratulations also to Fiona Lindsay from Yannathan Victoria who coordinated the National Judging Competition being the past recipient of the Dectomax University of Illinois Scholarship.
